African Insight specialises in experiential travel also referred to “travelling with a purpose”. This programme is aimed at travellers that want more than the traditional safari game viewing holiday. Our first destination is Somkhanda Game Reserve where African Insight operates a wildlife conservation experience that involves guest, interns and volunteers in the science of wildlife and conservation. The middle section is a more traditional Big 5 Safari Experience into Tembe Elephant Park. The last destination is in southern Mozambique where guests get to enjoy a relaxing time or action packed with a variety of experiences.
The Wild Coast remains a relatively untouched paradise in South Africa. It is an eco-haven of unspoilt stretches of coastline, open spaces and pristine indigenous coastal forest areas. Tourists are guaranteed a wonderful and exciting holiday.
This rugged and scenic region stretches for 270km from the Great Kei River to the boundary between the Eastern Cape and Natal. The Wild Coast has become the graveyard of many vessels, but none more than those belonging to the early Portuguese navigators. Known as the pearl in the crown of the Eastern Cape, the Wild Coast forms part of the former Transkei homeland, and much of the area is rural South Africa in its true essence.
On this trip, we will cover approximately 2000km of some of the wildest and most spectacular parts of Southern Africa. Starting off with one night in Okahanja which is located just outside of Windhoek, where you will relax and recover from your long-haul flight. Your hosts (African Insight) will arrive by road and meet you at Windhoek Airport with the transport for this trip. The route takes us via Brandberg White Lady Lodge and the fascinating Brandberg Mountain where we may have the opportunity of seeing the highly endangered desert-adapted elephant that roams the area which is not a national park, and then on to the Etosha National Park, which is Namibia’s flagship for conservation and wildlife heritage. Etosha is unique both ecologically and historically and is definitely a “bucket list” destination for wildlife safari enthusiasts. We then head along the Caprivi Strip which is an interesting piece of land (and history) that connects the dry land of Namibia with the Zambezi River. The trip ends with two nights at the Victoria Falls one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
